Microsope controller for digital slides

Some pathologists prefer the microscope controles they are familiar with to control digital slides. Because the original controller is not made anymore I made one myself.

Project status: done

Histolog imaging pressurizer

In our lab we did a test with a new imager device to create histology images directly from tissue. We had issues with the issue not being flat enough. So I built a pressurizer to add some pressure to it. You can't do that with your hand because that's not steady enough.

Project status: done

Project status: done

Smart curtain

I want to convert my old Tomos moped to electric. The big issue is where to put the battery. I want to put it in the gas tank. But will that weaken the frame too much?

Project status: in progress.

Biopsy reporter tool

A tool to create pathology biopsy macro reports by using only a photo.

Project status: almost done.

Stickerplakker / Slide labeller (patent not pending anymore)

 Check the videos here.

In 2015 I created the Slide Labeller machine. This started because of issues in our lab with our slide printers. Because of the glass dust the print heads often break which is an expensive part. Also the prints on glass are not very pretty. But printing labels and applying them by hand is a real pain. So I thought why not combine the best of both worlds? Print labels with a normal label printer and then have them automatically applied to the slide.
I talked about this with a sales person who didn't think it was a great idea so I decided to build one myself. Then patent it and sell it to the company who thought it was a bad idea. After about a year this device was the result. It worked pretty great. I also almost got it patented. But in the end we couldn't sell the patent and because it's such an expensive endeavor we decided to stop the patent application.

To say that I learned a lot from this project is a big understatement!

Project status: done.

Speechmike sleeve for locline tube

We changed microphones in our sectioning room and needed a contraption so we didn't have to dangle it by the cord.
It was quite challenging to create a sleeve out of so many complex curves.

Project status: done.

Natural kb with mech switches

Oh how I love my MS Natural Keyboard. Unfortunately it's almost 20 years old and doesn't type very well anymore. The big problem is that Microsoft doesn't make these anymore (for a long time now) so I have no replacement. I bought the new curved keyboard but after two years I still think it sucks. Those clicklet keys have no travel and the rubber function keys get stuck from time to time!!! So when I discovered the Ergodox I thought I had found the solution. It was not. So I will build my own keyboard!

Project status: completed.

I am a fan of the Terminator franchise and I like the old arcade machine. These days these machines are very expensive and also very huge. Not something you want in your living room. So I decided to make a smaller version of it.

Project status: work in progress.

Race Sim

About 20 years ago I was in an arcade and played a F1 race sim. The really cool this about it was that it had a seat with inflatable couchions. So when you went into a corner you were pressed into the seat like it was real. I always wanted to make something like this.
